Pence Consulting, President and Owner
Pence Consulting established in 1992 is a full-service, consulting firm supporting nonprofit organizations. Services include direct consultative guidance, training programs, sponsorship of national training seminars, event sponsorship and coordination. Pence Consulting provides coaching and mentoring of new staff and provides interim staff support for organizations in transition. Pence Consulting\'s fundraising specialities includes Annual, Endowment, and Capital Campaigns.
Since 1993 Pence Consulting has contracted with Indiana University Center on Philanthropy, the Fund Raising School to sponsor their courses in Michigan. Pence joined the faculty and teaches for them nationally. Pence is also an adjunct Faculty member at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield MI.
Pence Consulting has provided technical support to over 100 Nonprofit Organizations since inception.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Director of Annual Giving, Northern Michigan University from 1989-1992.
Responsibilities included management of the Development Office and all office operations which included budgeting, record management, and all day to day business operations; all annual giving solicitations including five gift clubs; worked with established and new scholarship programs including solicitations and distribution of scholarships; worked in planned and deferred giving; and provided supervision of all departmental fundraising; created, designed, implemented and supervised the Universities first telemarketing program. Traveled extensively throughout the United States on behalf of the Alumni and Development office. Responsible for the coordination and supervision of the University Advancement Information Management System for the Development. Supervised two administrative professional staff positions, three clerical technical staff positions and five student assistants and was responsible for the telemarketing program. Annual fundraising goal $2,000,000.
Consultant from 1987-1989 specializing in Catholic School Fund Raising and ran successful campaigns to build endowments.
Provided consulting support for Nonprofit Organizations in the areas of fundraising, training and as a workshop presenter.
Executive Director of the Holy Name Endowment Fund
The position was created to be the campaign manager and later executive director of the Endowment. Exceeded campaign goal of raised $500,000. Monies raised were to support a Catholic Elementary School. Provided ongoing support to build the Endowment Fund through personal solicitation, planned giving and events. Oversaw the investment portfolio of the fund and worked with investors to appropriately manage the Endowment.
Annually raised funds for an established Scholarship Foundation. Assisted in the creation of the School\'s first Preschool and Readiness Kindergarten Programs.
